The possibilities of concrete are endless. Yet too many pros are limiting themselves to competing against granite with boring, flat slabs and integral sinks (fabric formed or not), because they don’t have the confidence to take concrete to the next dimension – going 3-D!
If you can dream it, you can create it with concrete – but only if you can figure out how to make the mold.
Go beyond flat slabs and the occasional fabric formed sink. Once you understand the fundamental mold making principles and structural considerations involved in 3-D molds, you can confidently create an endless variety of shapes for furniture, fire pits and more.
Wow your clients and satisfy your creativity like never before. Learn truly 3-D mold making that will allow you to remove all limits on your creativity, with confidence. Your concrete creations will never be the same old same old again.

You must already be proficient in basic (simple boxes) mold making using melamine and have woodworking skills with power tools such as table saws, chop saws, etc.
In this class, we will start the day by introducing the design of the concrete creation and its mold, plus the joint layout and cut sheets. We will make one large, complex, 3-dimensional mold that incorporates a variety of concepts such as curves, angles and connections. The mold will use melamine plus various essential materials such as foam, flexible plastic, fiberglass, etc.
The project will illustrate the fundamental principles of 3-D mold making and the importance of precision and detail. You will go home able to create far more than just a copy of what we did in class.
What you will learn:
What you will receive:
A cleverly designed project that illustrates the principles you are learning, plus supporting reference materials. You won’t go home wondering, “What just happened?”, with nothing but a brochure and a certificate to show for it.
This class creates molds only, so there are no concrete creations to take home. However, if you stay for the next 2 days for Advanced Finishes with ECC, you may be able to take home a completed concrete project made with the mold you helped create.
NO! Fabric forming allows you to create some really sexy shapes, but the truth is that the majority of creative 3-dimensional projects you dream up will require mold-making using a variety of techniques and materials, especially melamine and flexible plastic. Training on these fundamentally useful 3-D mold making techniques and materials is essential for building your business on a solid foundation.
1. This is the only class that will teach you what you really need to know to be truly proficient in 3-D mold making. You need it!
