For larger projects, consider the following options:
- Coverage Range: A 64 oz bottle covers between 200-400 square feet, providing flexibility depending on application techniques and surface texture.
- Packaging Options: Available in both 16 oz and 64 oz containers, ensuring you have the right amount for any job size, whether it's a small touch-up or a full-scale renovation. 5-gallon buckets are also available by special order.
This comprehensive coverage ensures you can tackle any concrete sealing project with confidence, maximizing both efficiency and value.
ACCESSORIES
Ovation is spritzed on to the countertop surface using a regular household spray bottle, and then rolled with foam rollers. The spray bottle does not matter as long as it sprays reasonably evenly.
However, the quality of foam rollers is important. We strongly recommend the use of our high quality German foam rollers. They look similar to big box store foam rollers, but they are not.
Supplies You'll Need:
- High-Quality Foam Rollers: Essential for an even application. Our foam rollers ensure a smooth finish.
- Standard Household Spray Bottle: Any spray bottle that provides a consistent mist will work.
- Protective Clothing and Rubber Gloves: Always wear these to safeguard your skin while working with sealers.
- A Bucket or Bowl: Ensure it holds roughly 1/2 gallon of water for rinsing and cleaning.
- Cool, Clean Water: Keep your water refreshed, especially in warmer settings. Consider placing ice in a plastic bag and adding it to your water to maintain a cool temperature.

INSTRUCTIONS
Please click here for the instructional videos, written instructions and data sheets.
Below is a very brief summary. DO NOT rely solely on this summary. Refer to the full instructions.
Essentially, you will:
- Ensure that the environment you will seal in is suitable
- Prepare the concrete surface for sealing
- Mix and apply the sealer in multiple coats
1. Recommended Environmental Conditions for Applying Ovation Concrete Sealer
When applying the sealer, consider the following environmental conditions to ensure optimal results:
- Air Quality: Work in an area with relatively still air. Breezy or drafty environments can cause the sealer to dry prematurely, leading to unwanted streaks.
- Temperature Control: Avoid applying the sealer under radiant heat or direct sunlight. Any source of intense heat can cause the sealer to dry too quickly, resulting in uneven application.
By adhering to these guidelines, you'll maintain the integrity of the sealer and achieve a flawless finish.
Detailed information about the exact temperature and humidity, as well as considerations of dew point, air flow and dust control, are in the written instructions available from the full instructions page.
2. How to Prepare Your Concrete Surface for Sealing with Ovation
Achieving a flawless finish on your concrete countertop begins with proper preparation. You will follow these steps to ensure your surface is ready for the sealer application:
- Cure your concrete for at least 2 days
- Make sure the concrete is microscopically rough by etching, wet sanding by hand, or machine honing to no more than 400 grit.
- Make sure the concrete is clean and dry.
- Ensure that the environment you will seal in is suitable.
Click here for detailed instructions and video for the surface preparation process. By following these preparation steps, your concrete surface will be perfectly primed for the sealer, guaranteeing a smooth and professional finish.
3. Step-by-Step Guide to Applying Ovation Concrete Countertop Sealer
Applying a sealer to your concrete countertop not only enhances its appearance but also provides essential protection. Follow these steps to achieve a beautifully sealed surface. Note that you must refer to the full instructions for the details - DO NOT rely only on the steps below.
1. Shake and Dilute
- Shake bottle well.
- Mix 2 parts Ovation to 1 part water.
- Dampen your foam roller and squeeze out excess water.
2. Spray and Roll
- Spray the diluted sealer onto a small section of the surface.
- Spread with the foam roller.
- Back roll with the foam roller to achieve an even surface.
- Blend each new section into the wet edge of the previous section while the sealer is still wet and fluid.
3. Re-coat
- Allow the first coat to dry for no less than 1 to 2 hours.
- Use 1000 grit sandpaper to lightly knock down rough spots before applying each new coat of finish.
- Additional coats can be applied thinner and allowed to dry for 30 minutes to 1 hour
- Apply 4 coats to achieve optimal protection. Do not apply fewer than 3 coats.
4. Cure
- Allow the finish to cure for at least 48 hours before transportation, installation, and gentle use. Full cure at ambient room temperatures occurs in about 7 days.
Following the detailed steps in the full instructions will help ensure your concrete countertop is well-protected and maintains its pristine condition.

Q & A
Ovation DIY Concrete Countertop Sealer
If the sealer is waxy (or waxed), you will need to clean off all traces of any waxy residue before honing. He suggests a common degreaser like simple green, Greased Lightning, Krud Kutter or similar. Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) is also an excellent degreaser and wax remover. The old sealer needs to be free of all residue and contamination before honing begins.
Sometimes heavily stained concrete can't be restored to looking like new. It looks like a lot of those stains are from oil, and oil can be very difficult to get out of concrete. You could try applying a poultice, but there's no guarantee you'll get any or all of those stains out. We have an article on that:
https://concretecountertopinstitute.com/free-training/how-to-remove-stains-from-concrete-countertops/
You sanded with 200 grit diamonds, which is fairly gentle. We suggest you go much more aggressive to remove more material. Heavier grinding that removes more surface material *might* reduce the amount of surface stains, but unfortunately you have to accept what you have or tear it all out and redo it.

The best way to remove Ovation is to wet sand it off. It can be chemically stripped with paint stripper but many people don't like that. So instead I recommend wet sanding with 220 grit wet or dry sandpaper, and to do this either by hand or with a palm sander. It's pretty obvious when the sealer has been completely removed as the concrete will darken from water. We do not have a water-based stain of our own, but I recommend buddy Rhodes glazes as a means of coloring your concrete.
Hi Katie, you will need to strip off the 511 impregnator. You should ask Rustoleum what the best product to use is, as 511 is their product. But we suggest paint stripper to start. Anything that says it's a repellant, penetrating sealer, or if it's meant to be used on stone or tile will need to be removed before sealing.
In situations like this it is best to apply all 4 finish coats and allow the sealer to fully cure before making any assumptions. This will allow the lines to go away, and if they don't. then please feel free to contact us and let us help you trouble shot the issue at that point.
No, Ovation is meant to be used over concrete. Also, you should look to the manufacturer of that product to see what it takes to care for it. Quartz is supposed to be non-porous.

Applied easily. Best product I’ve tried. Fingers crossed. Expected free shipping, but no.
This worked amazing as a primer coat to hide some of the flaws in our DIY concrete countertop pour. We then added the final coats in Omega. I did find the Ovation a lot easier to apply and a bit more forgiving. It really left a beautiful satin sheen too!
Received it fast and got my pieces sealed with no issues and a nice clean finish
The acetone worked perfect The Ovation was easy and looks great.
The application process produces the most flawless finish I’ve ever achieved in almost 50 years of sealer applications, mostly on masonry. Have not seen results under use but will have opportunity to check a job next month. Follow the directions carefully, prep is always the hardest and biggest task on any job.
