COVERAGE & COSTÂ
- A kit of 1 pint A, ½ pint B (24 oz) covers approximately 170 sq ft using the maximum of 2 primer coats and 4 finish coats.
- Cost is $129.99 per 24 oz making it only $0.76 per sq ft.
- Depending on how porous your concrete surface is, you may need the maximum number of coats before your surface is completely sealed. For less porous concrete or less demanding applications such as fireplace surrounds, you may need only 1 primer coat and 2 finish costs. For highly porous surfaces, additional applications up to 2 primer coats and 4 finish coats might be necessary to ensure full coverage and durability. Always assess the porosity of your concrete before beginning the sealing process to determine the exact number of coats needed.By following these guidelines, you can achieve professional-grade results and extend the lifespan of your concrete surfaces.
EQUIPMENT
Omega is applied with foam rollers. It is important to use high quality foam rollers, because this will result in a better surface finish quality.
Our foam rollers are made of a dense, high quality foam that will give you a better finish than foam rollers from a big box home improvement store. They may look similar to big box rollers, but they are not. The foam is top quality German foam (assembled in China).
If you purchase the Omega Full Kit, you will receive our ultra high quality German foam rollers as well as handles and measuring syringes. You may also purchase packs of foam rollers and handles here.
The Omega Full Kit includes all the accessories you need for convenience, including foam rollers and handles, measuring syringes, and even plastic jars. People often buy a full kit to start, and then order 24 oz kits as needed.
- One 24 oz kit of Omega Concrete Countertop Sealer
- Set of 10 6" foam rollers
- One 6" roller handle
- Set of 10 4" foam rollers
- One 4" roller handle
- Set of 10 2" foam rollers
- One 2" roller handle
- Set of 2 60 mL measuring syringes
- Set of 4 10 mL measuring syringes
- One 10 oz plastic jar with lid
- One 20 oz plastic jar with lid
OMEGA RESEAL KIT
The Omega Reseal Kit is designed for pros and DIY'ers to reseal existing concrete countertops that have existing sealers that have failed or are underperforming.
The Reseal Kit contains everything shown in the photo:
- 1 kit of Omega
- 2", 4" and 6" foam rollers and handles
- 10 mL and 60 mL syringes
- Storage jars
- 120 and 200 grit diamond hand pads
- 100 and 200 grit 5" diamond polishing discs
- Thorough cleaning is essential before and after removing the old sealer.
- Thorough masking is critical. Omega is designed to bond very well to many surfaces, so wipe up spills, drips, and spatter immediately, or protect important surfaces with effective masking.
- Not all sealers are removed using the same methods. Wax and penetrating sealers are very difficult to remove because they sit below the concrete's surface, and chemical stripping may be necessary. Softer topical sealers like acrylic sealers are easy to remove with damp honing. Experimentation is sometimes necessary, but the goal is to remove 100% of the old sealer and expose new, completely bare concrete.
- New or existing voids and pinholes in the concrete should be filled before sealing. Omega will not fill in pinholes, and they may remain open and unsealed. Only grout after the old sealer has been removed but before Omega is applied.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR OMEGA CONCRETE COUNTERTOP SEALER
Click here for the instructional videos, written instructions and data sheets.
Below is a very brief summary. DO NOT rely solely on this summary. It is imperative to watch all of the videos AND read all of the written instructions. Essentially, you will:
- Ensure that the environment you will seal in is suitable
- Prepare the concrete surface for sealing
- Mix and apply the sealer in multiple coats
1. Recommended Environmental Conditions for Applying Omega Concrete Sealer
To achieve the best results while applying a concrete sealer, it's essential to be mindful of specific environmental conditions. Here's what you need to consider:
- Air Movement: Apply the sealer in a location with minimal air movement. Drafts and breezy conditions can lead to uneven application, as the sealer may dry too quickly, resulting in undesirable streaks.
- Temperature: Avoid applying the sealer under direct sunlight or any form of radiant heat. Higher temperatures can cause the sealer to dry prematurely, making it difficult to achieve a smooth finish.
By managing these environmental factors, you can ensure a more even and professional finish for your concrete sealing project. Detailed information about the exact temperature and humidity, as well as considerations of dew point, air flow and dust control, are in the written instructions available from the full instructions page.
2. How to Prepare Your Concrete Surface for Sealing with Omega
Achieving a flawless finish on your concrete countertop begins with proper preparation. You will follow these steps to ensure your surface is ready for the sealer application:
- Cure your concrete for at least 2 days
- Make sure the concrete is microscopically rough by etching, wet sanding by hand, or machine honing to no more than 400 grit.
- Make sure the concrete is clean and dry.
- Ensure that the environment you will seal in is suitable.
Click here for detailed instructions and video for the surface preparation process. By following these preparation steps, your concrete surface will be perfectly primed for the sealer, guaranteeing a smooth and professional finish.
3. Step-by-Step Guide to Applying Omega Concrete Countertop Sealer
When it comes to sealing a concrete countertop, you will follow these basic steps to protect and maintain its beauty. Note that you must refer to the full instructions for the details - DO NOT rely only on the steps below.
1. Mixing
- Ratio is 2 parts by volume A with 1 part by volume B
- Mix and let rest for at least 5 minutes. This is CRITICAL. Do not let rest for shorter than 5 minutes.
- Dilute with water as needed depending on whether you are mixing Primer or Finish coats.
2. Dilution
- Primer: 1 part urethane mixture plus 7 parts water by volume
- Finish Coat: 1 part urethane mixture plus 1 part water by volume (or 1.25 parts water in hot weather)
3. Straining
- Strain diluted mixture through a paint strainer
4. Apply the Primer
- Apply a small amount and spread out rapidly, use spray bottle application method
- Backroll immediately with high quality foam rollers
- Maintain wet edge to prevent roller marks
- Wait 10-20 minutes between coats
- Apply at least 2 coats
- Wait 15+ minutes before applying Finish Coats
5. Apply the Finish Coats
- Apply a small amount and spread out rapidly, use spray bottle application method
- Backroll immediately with high quality foam rollers
- Maintain wet edge to prevent roller marks
- Wait 10-20 minutes between coats
- Apply 2 to 4 coats depending upon desired protection
Following the detailed steps in the full instructions will help ensure your concrete countertop is well-protected and maintains its pristine condition.
Q & A
Omega Pro Concrete Countertop Sealer
Yes, as stated in the Omega written instructions: "Resealing after 24 hours Resealing or applying more coats of Omega after the original coats are cured (and anytime after more than 24 hours has passed) is simple. First, lightly scuff sand the entire surface to be resealed with 220 grit sandpaper (320 if coarser sandpaper seems to be gouging the surface). Remove all of the dust and apply more finish coats as necessary. Do not sand through the old finish. No priming is necessary if the original finish is intact. Priming IS necessary if you sand through to bare concrete."
Concrete Countertop Institute answered on June 13, 2025 verified ownerHi Kennis,
Thank you for your feedback. We truly appreiate it.
It should adhere to the stone as long as no wax or stone sealer/repellant has been applied before.
Concrete Countertop Institute answered on December 13, 2024 verified ownerNo. Omega has not been tested over paint. It almost certainly will not bond properly.
Concrete Countertop Institute answered on June 26, 2023 verified ownerThank you for reaching out. Unfortunately, given the current condition of your concrete there really isn't a way to fix it. The best thing for you to do is tear them out and start over again. I am sorry about this, but the concrete is fundamentally flawed, and no surface treatment will fix it. Perhaps this will help: www.concretecountertopinstitute.com/free-guide-diy-concrete-countertops.

Customer Images Kelly C. I used Omega years ago to reseal countertops in another house and knew how much better it was than other sealers. When my husband and I poured our own concrete countertops in our current house, I knew I wanted Omega. That being said, I had issues with it being splotchy this time. It drew attention to all of the little flaws in our trowel work, etc. Maybe it has to do with the light color of the concrete this time. After reading a lot of reviews and everything on the CCI website several times, I decided to sand off the Omega. I sanded everything down a lot more the second time and used Ovation + Omega the second time. It turned out WAY better. The Ovation sealed it without drawing attention to the flaws and then we put the Omega on top for the superior protection. We are really happy with the results now. Kelly C. Elizabeth Goldan This stuff is so great! I made a "temporary" dining room table from scrap plywood and coated it in ardex and used this sealant (I don't think it is even recommended for skim coats, but it worked swimmingly!), and it's now been six years, and the table is still going strong. I had low expectations for the project, but, honestly, it turned out so decent that I have never had a desire to replace it! Lots of wine and oil and beyond has sat on the table for longer than it should (like, days, yikes!), and, it has mostly cleaned right up. I think you're supposed to reseal every year or two, and I have not, so I can now see a few spots that maybe look a bit dark, but it is so minimal that I think I am the only person who would notice. Kind of looks intentional. And it has been six whole years, and I have done absolutely zero to maintain. My table project was such a success, that one of my friends wanted a dining table for his new house. The sealant formula had changed between my initial experience and when we made his, but the new formula seems to be just as durable and was much more simple to apply.
After so much success with the dining tables, I skimcoated my whole bathroom and used this stuff as well. That was another "temp fix" sort of thing, but sat for about 4 years before I tore it out. Countertop, floor, and tub surround. Daily showers and never had an issue with anything penetrating through the sealant.
Anyway, couldn't recommend more, works great! Have fun with your projects everyone! Elizabeth Goldan This stuff is so great! After two months of kitchen usage we still have zero scratches and zero stains despite having spilled and left sitting concrete countertop killers like red wine, lemon juice, coffee, cooking oil. I will never use any other sealer. I'd call myself an advanced DIYer and I'd say anyone who can devote an hour to carefully reading the instructions and videos provided for how to use this sealer will have no trouble getting excellent results. Prudi Van Wagenen I would like to have had a nice shinny counter but your product only allows for a 100 grit finish. This leaves a very industrial look, not what I wanted for my kitchen. Christine Hertzog This is an amazing sealer! Easy to use, beautiful finish, and cures quickly. We have tried many of the big name sealers and have not had consistently good results. We tested it with a bunch of samples. Can't wait to use it on our next countertop project. So glad we tried it! pamela Larson Loved it. Wilhelm Wilhelm My first concrete project was to create a counter top in one piece thats around 16 feet long, which I treated the first time with a sealer from a different brand. Were using our kitchen every day multiple times and experience a lot of issues with stain, although we wipe off the surface as soon as possible. Also, the glossy surface soon faded away...
So, for the last piece in our kitchen, the center island I tried the Omega sealer hoping to not run into the same issues anymore. First, I have to say that the instructions are incredibly useful and if you follow them the result will turn out as promised many, many thanks for the meticulous instructions and for the videos provided! After 3 months of heavy use, I couldnt believe how well the sealer performs! No stains at all so far, cleaning the surface is very easy! Im really impressed! The touch of the surface is very smooth and doesnt require to use any scratch pads or similar to remove cooking residue.
Based on my experience with three different sealer types I can only recommend the Omega sealer, all the other ones are not performing even close. My next project is to reseal the old counter top with Omega, which means I have to figure out how to remove the old sealer... Flavien Bornet Very happy with omega.
I'm spraying it Accuspray. John John I did a lot of research on sealers after making my first concrete countertops for a basement bar. The countertops came out great but i wanted something that would seal, food safe and not need to be redone or waxed. Although Omega was a little more expensive i feel it is worth it. The instructions are very detailed and the process is easy if you are prepared. Read and watch all the videos and you will be as satisfied as i am. Looking forward to many parties around the bar. Maureen F I am a kitchen and bath designer living in Florida and three years ago I had concrete countertops made for my kitchen which I had just remodeled. I never used concrete before in any of my designs and I was excited to give it a try. Aesthetically, its beautiful, it s also low maintenance and overall I really like it. But, I want to love it!!
The negative issues I have found are occasionally pinholes caused by aggregate materials near the surface form in the top of the countertop. This is easy to patch, and is very manageable. I patch it with concrete that the installer gave me. Unfortunately the other issue, the sealer is not so easy to deal with. There were many scratches on the sealer that began to look messy. I ve had the installer come back a few times but he said it was the nature of the sealer he used and there was not much that could be done.
I found it difficult to believe that there wasn t a better sealer out there. So I made some phone calls and found another concrete tradesperson to service the countertop. The person I called actually worked on making my countertop for the original installer which gave me great confidence in his abilities. He told me about Omega sealer which I was familiar with since I had done a lot of research on sealers. I ordered the sealer and had it sent to my home. I wanted to learn as much as I could about Omega so I watched many of the instructional videos. I was alarmed when I saw that dry sand prep was not advisable, since this is what my concrete person did the day before. I brought this to his attention but he said he could do a wet sand and it would be ok. I was skeptical but felt he was the professional so I deferred to him. As you probably suspect, the sealer began to peel 2 days after I started using it again. Here s what it looks like now 2 weeks later 2nd photo below. I contacted my concrete guy and I m waiting for him to come up with a plan. At this point I do not know what to do. I m afraid to let him do any more work because he should have done the correct prep to begin with.
At this point I do not know what to do. Like I said, I want to love my countertops, and I want to use concrete for other clients. Any suggestions on your part would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks for your time. Matt Todd They came out sweet. I m pretty happy for my first go around with concrete countertops. Thanks again for your help. Seems to seal the concrete well. I didnt know how thin it would end up. I was hoping for a little more of a glaze on the surface. I applied four finish coats and people still wonder whether or not I have applied a finish coat at all. We loved the support and videos you have for your products. They are very thorough and helpful! The only complaint we have about the kit is that in the video it is recommended to have another roller handle and it s not included in the kit. I had to run out quickly before we started to get one. I have enclosed a couple of pictures of our finished countertops we love them! We have had so many compliments on them! I really like the satin finish. I do have one question the sealer seems to scratch extremely easy. We were aware that there would be scratches, but didn t realize it would be so easy to scratch the surface. We have watched the videos to repair the scratches, but wondered if there was a quicker solution as it is happening often Al B My husband and I purchased your Omega Concrete Countertop Sealer and kit after extensive research online to seal the concrete countertops we made for our home. To put things into perspective aside from posts and a few poured pads, my concrete experience is limited and I had NO prior concrete countertop experience. That said, I am an avid remodeler junior electrician plumber and have above average wood working skills having build kayaks, SUPs and canoes and much of the cabinetry in my home kitchen cabinets included.
I am always looking for challenges and love gaining new skills. This all started with the need for an end table of an uncommon size. I thought I have walnut, concrete is inexpensive and so took a chance with a concrete top surrounding a chunk of black walnut. That worked out well and my Hmmm what else can I build mind took over.
Concrete counter tops seemed the next logical step as my kitchen was circa 2000. What I really wanted though was a farmhouse sink, but wasn t about to spend the 12001400 that seems to be the going price. I researched a lot, designed and built a form for a single bowl concrete farmhouse sink and nailed it first time out I love that sink! After that the countertops were a breze. Now onto sealing. After 30 hours of concrete counter top sealing research Omega was the only viable product. My family is not very observant when it comes to spills and I wanted something as waterstain proof as I could get. Penetrating sealers, wax top coats, Cheng none of these separate or applied together had what I could get from Omega.
I purchased the product and watched the videos several times there was about a one week a delay in getting the product as it was out of stock when I ordered not an issue for me. When it did arrive, the part B can had epoxy dried and hardened into the liprim see pic. When I eventually tried to open and use the contents of the can, as you can see from the picture it didn t go well. I transferred part B into another container used bloxygn for resealing the container and proceeded seal my tops. The two issues I had were
I do not think the transfer container for part B was as airtight as I had hoped. Part B kicked off before I could finish my last piece and I am now out of Omega and have an 18 x115 section which still needs sealed.
I used an entry level GFRC which I presume to be more porous than a higher grade product. That caused me to use a couple extra coats of Omega to get a fully waterstain proof sealed surface.
I have been very pleased with the performance of Omega countertop sealer. The videos were descriptive and detailed and the Omega product was in my opinion far easier to mix and apply than I would have thought after viewing the videos. Maybe I have more paint roller experience than I should the application process was in my opinion straightforward and simple. I just finished painting the kitchen cabinets bringing an end to that fabulous golden oak era.

Feel free to reach out if you have additional questions. Kelly Clark So we tried the sealer on our personal , newly handcrafted concrete table top. We are very pleased with the results thus far. The process initially for application was a little tricky to get the hang of. But once we solved those minor glitches on our end shop conditions etc the application was easy peasy. The final had me in a nervous frenzy once applied as to the way it looked. But with much self discipline I left it alone and went home for the night. The next day with some minor sanding and buffing I was pleasantly surprised and pleased. We are now, for the first time trying it on customer projects. We also just ordered our 3rd kit. My only complaints is the part B comes in a can and no matter how thoroughly I clean the can and top it hardens. Maybe you might consider a bottle for part B. We ve had great success with other sealers in bottles for ease of thread cleaning etc. The mix by weight and volume charts are awesome. As well as the Summary of mixing and application. Lastly. My suggestion would be to provide a REORDER link right on my profile page next to previously ordered items. I had to log into your site and go through various clicks to place the order again. It should automatically save my shipping choice as well as my payment info. I almost paid too much as priority is the first automatic choice chosen by your order system. Just my personal opinion and feed back. Thank you for making what we consider to be a great sealer. We are anxious to see how it performs for our clients. My name is David Calvin. I hope this is not too late, just received the pictures from the photographer Chris Bucher. Pam Harwood is a professor of architecture at Ball State University. I make custom furniture and help Pam and her students as a technician and advisor. This project that used your sealer is several pavilions and and outdoor kitchen at a community garden sponsored by the Muncie Public Library in Muncie, Indiana. It has been a designbuild project with the students designing and then actually constructing their designs. The outdoor kitchen has countertops that the kitchen group poured offsite and installed. Unfortunately, the semester ended before they were sealed. So after researching different available products, I chose yours, mostly for the fact that it could withstand an outdoor environment.
I have had no previous experience sealing concrete, although I finish furniture with a variety of finishes. The videos were quite instructive and gave me a measure of confidence. Despite experience, finishing can always have surprises. The counters were sealed in place, so care had to be taken to cover all non counter surfaces and protect from drips. The process went as expected, with few surprises. The instructions were well written and explained the process. We are all happy with the results. Thanks for a great product.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Cole M What did you seal with it Quikrete countertop mix. kitchen counters.
Did you find it fast and easy to use once you understood the instructions I thought so at first, but on my first set of counters i purchased a foam roller from Lowes and used it. there was alot of bubbles in the sealer as I was rolling and backrolling, which in my opinion, led to a gritty surface after drying. I was able to handscuff with 220 and knock the defects down.
I reached out to your technical team, and they advised that due to using low quality rollers and not the recommended high quality German roller you offer this was the root cause of the defect. I believed that so on my third and final pour i ordered your rollers. same air bubbles existed, and the same gritty feel. knocked it down with 220 by hand again and it feels fine.
I have yet to see how the sealer works with a spill on the counter. appearance looks ok.
How did it compare with sealers youve used in the past first and last time doing concrete counters. was alot more work and ended up being almost as expensive as quartz by the time i purchased everything wet polisher, sealer, etc
overall very happy with how the kitchen has turned out. i am 99 sure we wont be doing concrete again, however. Cole M What did you seal with it Quikrete countertop mix. kitchen counters.

I used the sealer from Surecrete on my last project and thought I would try yours on this one because of what is said for ease of installation and quick dry times. I am not happy at all with it! I watched all the videos and did everything to a T. It still left roller marks and little dark dots all over. It also seems like some spots are already soaking up water near the sink. I did 2 base coats because it was warm when I did it and 4 top coats. We also paid for expedited shipping on 2 different orders. On the first one after I paid to expedite, I got an email saying that the sealer was out of stock! That was the reason I paid to expedite in the first place because we were having company coming from Australia and needed to get the counters in. The sealer didn t come for a week later. Then I had to order more, paid for 2 day air again and it came a day later than when it was supposed to. Eric Stroyer Yes I did use the sealer on new concrete countertops for my house. Over the summer, I poured two countertops in my kitchen using concrete from home depo, and used the Omega sealer. I used about 23 of the can and then gave the rest to a coworker because I knew I wouldn t use it before its shelf life ran out. Over all, I am very happy with the results. The sealer improved the look of the concrete and gave it a satin look. It is super easy to clean. My only complaint is that if water sits on it for too long for example a soaking wet towel, or a pitcher of ice water with condensation, a dark spot will develop under the sealer, presumable some moisture wicking through the sealer. These darker spots do not stain or stay long, however, perhaps the concrete absorbs this small amount of moisture into the slab. I am attaching pictures of my project, I haven t gotten to the subway tile back splash yet, hopefully over the holidays I will have time!
I do have one suggestion that would make your product so much easier to use, especially for consumers who are not contractors making a lot of products. If there was some way for you to package it in sealed one use pockets for example one ounce, then someone could buy only what they needed, and it would help with the limited shelf life. ALSO it would make measuring a breeze. So say I had one countertop, I could purchase enough packets of part A and B so that they would be in the right ratio, and I would only be using what I needed for that layer. I ended up doing two primer layers and 4 regular layers. The hardest part was doing the measurement I used turkey basters and keeping the cans sealed I purchased the air displacer from SmoothON. If I could have just opened smaller packets in the right ratio, it would have been super easy and less stressful. The smallest amount of sealer that I could purchase was more than I needed, and more expensive than it would have been had I been able to purchase only what I needed.
But as I said earlier in my email, overall I am very pleased and have been using the counters for several months and the sealer so far has been durable and beautiful! Everyone who visits admires the counters, and the attractive surface. Customer Thanks for reaching out! I have more pictures but didn t want the file size to get too large. I never would have attempted something like this on my own. Finding the CCI was just the ticket. I did the Level 1 selfstudy course. I am a heavy DIY r so I felt confident I could make something but knowing the right mix, casting, etc. I would have wasted my time and money on my own. I read through it numerous times, watched some videos and felt like I had a good grasp on what I needed to do and what not to do. I also made the countertop while totally gutting and renovating my kitchen. I took one week off from work and the rest of the time was evenings and weekends. I made the casting tables before hand and the whole countertop was made in a storage unit in my driveway. I don t have a garage and my shed was too small. I started demo on July 4th and the countertop was moved into the kitchen on Aug 9th. Not too bad! If I did it again, I would do a few things different. I didn t get a change to run a test batch so I was open to get whatever it looked like. I went with white Portland cement, sand, recycled glass and white pebble stones. I had no idea what it would look like but I absolutely love it! I am so, so happy I found you guys. It worked out perfectly. Amy Coleman So my countertop is in and it looks amazing!! We felt like the first application was not enough, the second application finished the job. The counter tops are smooth and what were looking for. The application goes on great and dries fast so you can complete the job in one day and not multiple days. Customer This is the second application that we put on the outdoor kitchen counter tops. I was a little nervous after watching the videos but they were awesome and prepared me for the seal.
I did a concrete vanity with integrated sink. Kristin M I m a complete newbie. I ve never done concrete countertops before. I watched your videos, some spots a couple of times. I ended up doing them in place, simply because I did them by myself and there was no way to handle them if I poured them in forms. My one big mistake was dry sanding before using omega. It required me to resand wet to ensure a good seal. After that, no issues. Love love love the countertops. I can confirm they are resilient. Customer It was wonderful. Thank you so much for your assistance and the wonderful product. My countertops are beautiful. I was really worried that I had screwed them up but you came through for me. It was quite a project for me but it turned out great. I have been building a log cabin for 2.5 years now on weekends and I am 98% done now. The cabinets and countertops were one of the last things left to do. I dry sanded the countertops and then found out from you guys that was not the thing to do so, as recommended, I went back and wet sanded by hand with 220 grit, applied 2 primer coats and 4 finish coats hoping that it will bond. I have just a few very light roller marks, hardly noticeable. Very good instructions with you product. The Videos were extremely helpful. I was in video overload by the time I went for it. Having two rollers was the ticket. So far so good. It was definitely microscopically rough so hopefully it will be fine. All I have to do now is finish the cabinets. I am using cedar fence planks stained red to face the cabinets. The red and dark gray really pops in the cabin. Just what I wanted. See attached pictures. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Roughly 20 square feet over 7 individual slabs, the largest three slabs being about 2 by 2 feet each. Bare concrete was wet sanded with 400grit sandpaper and then with water and 400grit wet diamond pads mostly by hand. Cleaned with acetone. I performed the sealing work in my basement and I heated it to around 70 during application day. Shop was then kept between 60 and 65 for first 2436 hours. I then left everything alone for next 14 days since it is normally only in the 50 s in this space. I waited the full 5 minutes after mixing A and B for induction before dilution.
The following are my comments and feedback as you requested
1. The wealth of information in the online videos is great. I watched them all three times over the course of several days, and I read all the directions and FAQ page. The audio could be better though. I felt like I had to really crank up the volume to hear Jeff properly but then there was loud background noise.
2. Number of primer coats The online training indicates a second primer coat is optional during hot weather. I would have liked to see more information about two primer coats in general and perhaps a mention of additional primer when ambient temperatures are not as hot as your shop. I ended up putting on two primer coats because I mixed enough product to cover it. If I interpreted the instructions correctly, two primer coats are better than one, even when not hot.
3. Backrolling A large part of the training videos is about proper application and backrolling excess product. On one hand, I m instructed not to leave bubbles or lines in the finish. On the other hand, Im instructed not to over overwork or backroll too much. These concepts were constantly on my mind during application and it felt like these were always in contradiction with each other. How can I get all the bubbles out if I m afraid of overrolling Conversely, if I backroll enough to remove the bubbles, then I possibly left permanent roller lines. As a firsttimer, I had a very tough time finding the proper balance between these two techniques. However, since it was very cool in my shop, I m confident I never rolled anything dry.
4. Related to 3 above I initially ended up with very dark and sharp roller lines after application. I immediately thought I had failed and that these were the dreaded permanent roller marks as described in the videos. Fortunately, I was wrong and these lines ultimately vanished when the sealer cured. I know the video mentioned the wet lap marks being darker, but mine were very fine and narrow dark lines that corresponded to the roller edges, and it was looking very bad until it cured. Perhaps the training can expand upon this more.
5. Related to 4 above I initially put on four finish coats. However, since I saw these dark roller lines I thought the finish would be thicker and I would be sanding. So within 12 hours, while it was still tacky, I decided to put on a 5th finish coat to account for possible sanding. Then after full cure, everything evened out and looked fairly uniform. It would be great if the number of finish coats was discussed more in the training. 4 recommended and then a brief mention of extra coats if sanding is expected. More information about additional finish coats beyond 4 would be appreciated. Is too many coats bad How many coats is too much
6. I have a few very tiny dust bumps and I plan on knocking them down with 600 to 800grit paper. More information, photos, and video of these optional sanding techniques would be appreciated as part of the training.
7. My final finish sorta has a flat slightly orangepeel texture. Since I plan on hitting everything with 600800 grit, I think this is going to be reduced. Would love to see some training videos about sanding andor buffing. It s mentioned that some people do this, but would be great to see actual examples that show what different techniques can achieve. Like, can I sand it higher than 800 grit and would that put more shine onto it I like the matte finish, but if I could get a little more shine, I d like to know and see beforeafter examples. Can it be buffed out Maybe I saw something in the FAQ about buffing, but again, it would be great to see photo examples andor training videos about this.
8. I would like to see some discussion about what the cured texture is supposed to look like. The video mentions a texture like melamine. However, this is a somewhat subjective description, as yes, it looks like melamine, but the texture also seems a little more pronounced than melamine. Would be great to see your finished slabs up close from various angles and installed in homes.
9. The product is very expensive and so far seems worth it, but it s WAY TOO MUCH product for one standard kitchen. The 24 oz is about 5 times what I needed for mine. I sealed my cans with a nitrogenargon gas blanket, but the idea that 80 of what I purchased is going to get thrown away bec... Customer I was able to seal my counter tops and the sealer is awesome. It lays down wonderfully and really enhances the look. I do have 1 problem which isnt the fault of the sealer, but clearly the fault of my inexperience, but I ended up sealing a piece that had a some stain splashed on it that I thought was moisture but it ended up being something else and got locked in by the sealer this particular piece also didnt come out as great as the others so in my attempts to fix it, I sanded off too much of the cream finish in areas and it looks really splotchy and unappealing on the other pieces I lucked out and got a really nice surface. So the question is can I sand off the sealer and attempt to clean up the stains and reseal to get a more consistent finish I applied the sealer 3 days ago, but it appears cured enough to sand. If the sealer can be removed fairly easily I have plenty sealer left over to remove the existing coat, regrindhone, and reseal. Thoughts
Later Thanks so much for the reply. Jeff was absolutely right, I ended up wet polishing the sealer off by using 80 and 120 grit so it took off the cream finish, I had taken enough off the cream finish off originally that the splotchyness due to an inconsistent cream finish was actually part of my problem, so removing all of the cream finish actually improved the overall look. I resealed using 4 coats and the concrete looks really good. I definitely have some ghosting, which I suppose is a pretty common occurrencemistake, but it seems theres no way to rid of the ghosting, and due to it being in a grid, its not all that unsightly and I take as the material being truthful.
Thanks for the help, when given the chance Ill strongly recommend the Omega product. Customer I was able to seal my counter tops and the sealer is awesome. When I originally poured them, there were many air holes as I used concrete with aggregate that was larger than needed. Over the past 10 years it has become harder and harder to seal and clean the countertops. I found a YouTube video showing the use of Henrys feather coating to fill the holes. I applied 4 coats of that, wet shaded and then used your product. I was pretty nervous about doing it wrong, but once I worked with it for the first couple of coats, it got much easier. Im overall really pleased and so excited that the counters are clean able and look good, not perfect but good. CJ K I have used your product to seal my skin coated concrete countertops. Customer We are super happy with the concrete sealer. I did thinset concrete counter tops in our kitchen and the sealer has worked amazingly! It has withstood cooking, cleaning, and even one instance of cat pee ugh!. Nothing soaks through to our concrete! We use our concrete counters just as heavily as when they were Formica and they have held up wonderfully! Thanks for making a great product! Water still pools on top after over a year! Customer We are super happy with the concrete sealer. I did thinset concrete counter tops in our kitchen and the sealer has worked amazingly! Michael Kuhn I actually really enjoyed the process and thought it was very simple to apply. Thanks for all your help along the way.
I sealed my countertops a few weeks before moving in to my house and now that we are living in the house, there are some concerns that I have. Mainly, I am noticing a few select areas that will show water spots when standing water is left on the countertop for a period of time. I ve attached a picture that shows one of these spots the one round dark spot. Is this something that I should be concerned about For the most part, water beads up on the counters, but there are just a few spots where I ve noticed this happening. Thank you for any suggestions you might have. Customer First of all, thank you for your interest in the results of our work.
We managed to try out your product Omega Concrete Countertop Sealer not until these days.
We used it to coat a concrete slab intended for a table in the bathroom see the attached picture.
We have followed your instructions during application.
It was very good to apply Omega and we expect to use it as much as possible in the future.
However, we need your advise in one particular thing
The smudges emerged on the slab during an Omega applying with a recommended roller and we would like to know your opinion, how to avoid these smudges in the future.
At the same time we would need to recommend a suitable way how to remove these smudges for example a grinding off and a repeated coat, or a chemical removal of applied Omega, using . and so on.
We attached a photo of the bathroom slab the arrows indicate the smudges that have arisen.
Thank you for your answer in advance and we are looking forward to further cooperation. Heber Ontiveros Hi. A little late but I would like to share my experience on this project
Tell me about yourself. Are you an experienced concrete countertop pro A DIYer First time I do something like this, I watched several youtube videos and got some ideas from there. I am a electronic security specialist, so no relationship with this project, I interviewed a couple of professionals on the concrete matter, but none seemed to understand what i wanted, so I decided to do it myself.
What motivated you to try Omega I think I researched several products, and yours convinced me most
What did you seal with Omega kitchen, bathroom sink, etc. Please describe the concrete as well GFRC, cast in place, etc..I used it on my kitchen sink ,the concrete I used is made by Euclid Chemical, and it is called EUCORECOVER, Fiber Reinforced Concrete Resurfacer, a little expensive but worth the product
Was this your first time using a concrete countertop sealer, or did you have experience with other sealers If so, which ones and how did Omega compare to them First time.
Did you find the application process fast and easy once you understood the instructions Your product is very effective so far, easy to apply, friendly instructions, and fast to settle.
Please provide feedback on the instructions and other documentation FAQs, etc.. I did not have any problems understanding your instructions, and like I mentioned before, it is user friendly. Heber Ontiveros Hi. A little late but I would like to share my experience on this project

Customer I am a graphic designer turned concrete artisan. I have been in the cabinet, countertop, flooring industry for about 15 years. I mostly used my design skills to create layouts, previsualization of interiors, and CAD drawings. After doing a DIY project with concrete countertops, I fell in love with them and how I could use my design and artistic skills to create something not available from other countertop fabricators. I thin spent a long time selfresearching the chemistry and application of concrete. I have now been making concrete countertops full time for over a year.
Omega was appealing because of the ability to seal a project in one sitting, without having to spread the process out over 24 hours or more.
We used Omega to seal both a set of countertops and a custom made concrete copper farmhouse sink that we made to fit on a weirdlysized corner cabinet. Both were made from GFRC, reinforced with AR Glass Fiber Scrim and Ladder Wire.
We have used several other sealers. Most directly comparable is Trinic H12. Omega application is much quicker with about the same results. H12 requires 23 hrs between coats x 45 coats. The only thing H12 has over Omega is the ability to buff to a glossier finish.
The application took a bit to get used to since it cures soo much faster than what we were used to. Even after watching all the videos and reading the instructions, you cant really get a feel for how fast you have to move until you try it. Minor learning curve, but it is nothing a pro shouldnt be able to handle. I would worry a little bit about a DIYer being able to keep up and having all the prep work done ahead.
I think the instructions and videos do about as good of a job as possible to really prepare someone to use the sealer. Customer I am a graphic designer turned concrete artisan. I was looking for something I could do myself to cover my laminate kitchen countertops. So I researched and came across a DIY bloggers instructions on refinishing laminate kitchen countertops in feather lite concrete. So I attempted the procedure Michelle from lovely imperfections suggested and viola! It worked and they turned out just like I envisioned concrete countertops would look like, without the weight, cost and remodeling involved.Next came the decision on a sealer. I came across Omega thru the concrete institute. After watching a how to video and listening to the durability of Omega, I decided to brave it out on my own.I nervously followed all instructions as close as possible and it worked! Instructions were right on and it sealed the feather lite concrete perfect. It wipes up nicely and doesnt stain. Im very happy with Omega and would highly recommend this sealer. I also believe, according to the lovely imperfections blog, that I am the first person to use Omega over feather lite concrete.Ive attached a before and some after photos. Oh and the coins along the edge were my personal touch. I applied the Omega directly over them also and it sealed no problem! Thanks for making such a user friendly, durable product for us little guys. Customer We heard about omega from a PA concrete guy named Jared who we were trying to convince to come to MD to strip and resurface our existing concrete counters. We were desperate not to do it ourselves but could find no one locally that would strip and resurface. Anyway we decided to do it ourselves after talking with Jared because he said the product was so much easier than previous products.
We went for it and we LOVE our countertops. Prior to the buff color they are now we added a pigment, they were the natural cement color blotchy gray with lots of color variations.
As you can see from the photos, they are now one color and the sealer gives them more of a concrete feel, which we love. We also love the fact that they are resistant to staining and there is no waxing or any other maintenance that is necessary with other sealers.
It was a complicated process for a novice but the 9 pages of directions were very clear.
We get lots of compliments on the counters and they look as good today as they did the first day they cured. Trevor Bednarz I found your product by recommendation through a blog post about concrete countertops. We did them over existing laminate, so its not the same as the tutorial videos, but the sealer has worked great.
Once I read through the instructions once or twice, it was fairly easy to use. The only thing I regret is I didnt buy any of the syringes with it, so I had to use some small ones that we had, making it more difficult to mix. I havent really used a concrete sealer in the past, but I do plan to use this again in the future whenever I need it!
Great product, glad it came quickly and was pretty easy to use! I have included a few pictures of our kitchen where it was used. The island counter is actually just a sheet of plywood with the concrete skimmed on top, similar to the counter tops which were existing laminate with skim coats of concrete. Amy J I loved the sealer!!
While the instructions were daunting the actual application was a breeze, and the satin finish is spot on perfect.
I watched a couple of different videos online, in one video now I cant remember which one they poured the first primer coat directly onto the countertop.
this did leave a darker area first picture attached but honestly I really dont mind and I love the variation even though it was technically a big mistake!
This was a very satisfying project my husband and I did together we really enjoyed it, love the final product too. Get compliments all the time!

When you first sealed your concrete with Omega, you may have noticed some splotchiness. This isn’t a flaw in Omega. It actually highlights Omega’s color-enhancing properties. Troweled concrete naturally displays mottling, with subtle variations in shade created by the mechanical action of finishing the surface. Those small surface differences appear as lighter and darker areas, and a color-enhancing sealer like Omega brings that natural variation to the forefront, which can read as splotchy.
Ovation, on the other hand, is non-color enhancing, making it an excellent way to minimize the appearance of mottling. Because Ovation also performs beautifully as a primer for Omega in this application, you get the best of both worlds – a more even, uniform appearance from Ovation, paired with the proven protection of Omega.”
Best sealer I have ever used !! The other brands I have used did not last a year before I had issues
From easy ordering to the help of YouTube videos, every step of the way made smooth.
The hard part was not knowing and purchasing this sealer before.
So definitely will buy again.
Thank you guys!
We used another product first and it was a disaster. We ended up stripping it and resanding our countertops down to its original surface. It was a strenuous tasks. We watched every video available on this product and researched it and followed the step by step instructions. It went on exactly as it said it would. We used the ratio calculator provided. We carved out the day to apply it. It took 24 hrs in some spots and closer to 36 hrs in a few other stops to dry completely but we were patient and in the end it was completely worth it. Everything has wiped off of this surface so far. No water marks. No coffee stains. No wine stains. Blueberry juice has wiped up. Pasta sauce. Bleach. We have just been using them like normal. They are effortless. I know it says it is supposed to last but I pray it does and the product doesn’t start to wear over time. We are on the fence about trying the wax finish for maintenance protection.
The finish is beautiful, the texture/touch. The organic look of the countertop.
I am pleased so far. More so, relieved
Customer service is wonderful. I had Kim on standby if we needed any advice in the middle of our project.
Yes you have to follow the directions, but when you do, Omega just works. Time and again it works. I’ve sealed counters, bathroom and kitchen, hearths, fireplace surrounds, grill stations, and outdoor kitchens. The one factor that remains constant in all areas is that Omega works. So do your home work, follow the directions (to the “T”), and enjoy a job well done.
