This week I wanted to feature an artisan that truly exemplifies what we at The Concrete Countertop Institute hope for when we train someone. Immediately, my mind went to Patrick Golladay of Shokunin Concrete in Palm Harbor, FL.
I asked him if he’d be willing to be the featured artisan this week, and, reluctantly, he agreed. Patrick isn’t one to boast about his work; he just quietly produces some really incredible concrete.
I wrote out a brief blurb for Facebook, asked him for some photos, and then as they began to roll in, I knew I couldn’t just write a Facebook post. The quality and attention to detail I see when I look at these photos is exemplary. These pieces are the kind of thing I hope clients, and the public at large, think of when they think of concrete.
Most of Patrick’s finishes are extremely advanced, very detailed, and wildly intricate. They’re the kind of work a very talented artist puts out when they are finally allowed to ‘play’ with their medium.
Patrick came to The Ultimate Creative Concrete training course in May of 2017, and I’m proud of the work he’s done.
Check out these pictures, and his website (www.shokuninconcrete.com), and let us know what you think in the comment section!
If you want to create functional art with this crazy medium we call concrete, our next Ultimate Creative Concrete Training course is coming up December 4-8, 2023 at my studio in Canton, NC! Register here, and we’ll see you there!
